Oregon Grape Root
Mahonia repens/aquifolium. This important wild plant contains berberine, a bitter alkaloid used as a digestive and liver tonic. It stimulates the production of bile, aids in the assimilation of nutrients, and helps expel protozoal-type parasites. It has a well-earned reputation for purifying the blood and helping chronic skin disorders. Oregon Grape possesses anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties, making it an alternative for Goldenseal root in many applications. This important wild medicinal plant is abundant on our land and an ingredient in several of our formulas: Milk Thistle Dandelion Blend, Paravac, and Black Walnut Wormwood Formula, Herbal Salve and Lip Balm.
