Pau d’Arco
Tabebuia impetiginosa. The dried inner bark of this South American tree is known for its ability to treat external fungal/yeast infections of feet, mouth, skin and vagina. Internally and in combination with diet changes, it can be most beneficial for systemic fungal infections such as Candida. According to the book Herbal Medicine, Healing and Cancer by Donald Yance, “Lapacho, also referred to as Pau d’Arco, contains anti-cancer compounds, the main one being lapachol, which suppresses tumor formation and reduces tumor viability… Lapacho is a mild analgesic for cancer patients and is completely safe as a whole herb.” Antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-parasitic.
