Turmeric

Curcuma longa. The Ayurvedic and Chinese traditional healing systems have long utilized Turmeric as a powerful anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, liver stimulant, and digestive aid. It has also been used in Yoga practice to help stretch tight ligaments. Modern researchers have substantiated these uses. They have found it to be an excellent adjunct to many cancer therapies, an antioxidant that helps protect the liver from toxic build up, a natural cholesterol lowering herb, and a spice that helps us digest protein. Unlike other antibacterial agents in use, Turmeric strengthens digestion, while helping to improve intestinal flora. Curcumin is found in the deep yellow coloring of Turmeric roots.
