White Willow
Salix alba. The use of Willow bark goes back to 400 B.C. on several continents when people chewed the bark for pain, inflammation and to reduce fevers. It contains salicin, which is a chemical similar to acetylsalicylic acid in aspirin. Salicin and flavonoids in the bark are thought to be responsible for the pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects. White Willow appears to bring relief more slowly than aspirin, but its effects may last longer. This is one of the main ingredients in our White Willow Formula.
